The area around 'Koe in de Kost' is perfect for cycling and hiking. There are many bicycle and hiking routes in the area. You can rent bicycles if you'd like. Jan Stam is a very flexible bicycle renter who brings the bikes and picks them up again when you're done. You can contact him directly for renting bikes using his website (click here)

Our own tips for the area around 'Koe in de Kost'

Hansa city of Deventer l with events such as Dickens Festival Deventer, Deventer Book market, Festival Deventer Op Stelten and a nice swimming pool De Scheg.

Nijverdal / Holten l National Park Sallandse Heuvelrug has a very nice visitor's centre and fun activities for the kids! The Holterberg (part of the Sallandse Heuvelrug) is also highly recommended and has fun and child-friendly restaurant Woody's Pancakes & Steaks

Festivities in neighbouring towns

Raalte l In the village Raalte there's a traditional harvest festival every summer Stöppelhaene celebrated with a parade of floats. During the Pentecost weekend, you can enjoy blues music and spare ribs during the annual Ribs & Blues festival. During the summer holidays, there's a 'butter market' held every Wednesday morning with traditional dishes and activities from the region!

Heeten l And let's not forget about Heeten itself.... with our annual Pony week (last weekend of September), with a pony market on Wednesday and a large flea market on Friday!

Great restaurants

If you're looking for a nice place to eat, we can recommend the following restaurants near 'Koe in de Kost' based on comments from our holiday guests.

Brasserie Dertien is located in the centre of Heeten and can easily be reached by bike. Zaal Zaal Restaurant Reimink Reimink in Heeten has a mini-golf course and playground and is within walking distance! Eten bij Pa & Ma in Schalkhaar, it's a small drive, but the route is very scenic! 't Pannekoekhuis Lettele in Lettele, also reachable by bike or car! Jackies, a modern restaurant in the centre of Deventer, within driving distance. A very hip restaurant with culinary and special dishes.

Sportieve activiteiten

Voor de hardloop-liefhebbers onder ons: direct vanaf de boerderij zijn er prachtige routes die je kunt lopen! Voor een potje tennis stelt de tennisvereniging van Heeten haar tennisbanen beschikbaar. Voor een klein bedrag van €5 per uur kun je gebruik maken van de banen. Liever mountainbiken? Dat kun je heel goed op de Holterberg. Er zijn meerdere MTB-routes die je kunt rijden (bekijk hier de routes). En voor een zwemfestijn raden we je op advies van onze eigen vakantiegasten zwembad de Scheg in Deventer aan.
